Fueled by a passion for food, cooking and the arts, Marissa Hartley, Founder + CEO of Chz Plz, pours her creativity into every single culinary offering as Niagara’s most trusted cheese and catering source.

Marissa’s formal training began over a decade ago, when she received her diploma in Culinary Management from Niagara College. Upon graduation, Marissa honed her culinary skills, working at one of Niagara’s most popular restaurants, the Lakehouse, first earning her stripes as a garde cook and eventually moving up into the leadership role of sous chef.

After gaining valuable knowledge at a few more of Niagara’s best restaurants, Marissa carved out her own clear culinary vision: to become the go-to shareable catering company for Niagara.

Since starting Chz Plz in 2018, Marissa has solidified her position as a community leader, becoming a recipient of the 40 under 40 Business Link Awards, a Women in Business Finalist and the CAA Community Partner of the year, to name a few.

The biggest milestone in Marissa's career came in the summer of 2022 when she welcomed the birth of her first child, where she learned the delicate balance of managing a growing business and working with a newborn.

Since having her little girl, Marissa’s dreams for her company have amplified and she has grown to hosting her own memorable events, including Fondue night and Charcuterie Workshops, and introducing an expansive catering menu to accommodate groups big and small. If you stop into her beautiful Port Dalhousie store, you may see her sweet daughter greeting customers with a smile!
